February 22, 2010Maui No Ka Oi….(Maui is the best)
February 17, 2010
Soooo, your considering taking the plunge to come to Maui for the retreat. That voice inside you that is saying “Yes” is probably right..but just in case you need some encouragement, I want to share with you what else the Island offers and some other travel details you may be curious about.
The retreat is scheduled to begin on Sunday the 18th of April, so you could either plan to arrive on island a few days early to explore or stay longer after the retreat. Either way, you most definitely want to include some extra time to take in some of the amazing natural beauty and adventures Maui has to offer.
I know a lot of friends who absolutely love the road to ‘Hana’. Hana is located on the eastern shore of Maui along one of the windiest paved roads in the world. Going to Hana is an adventure for sure..with some of the most breathtaking views..waterfalls, cliffs, and panoramic ocean views. But for me the journey is the thing. It’s like the more you wind in and out, drive slower and slower, layers of stress..thoughts..anything will begin to fall away..naturally. Maybe it’s just me..but it’s a huge opportunity for letting go…as you arrive in Hana..the most remote point on an island that is the most remote place on earth…well…I’m just ‘sayin’. The seven sacred pools are a tantalizing treat.
Simple, quiet and PEACEUL reward. April 24th-25th the weekend following the retreat, is the annual Taro Festival in Hana. A wonderful time to experience Hana and it’s history and heritage.
The south side of Maui, Kihei & Wailea…is sort of like the Florida of Maui. But don’t get me wrong, one, and I emphasize ONE, of the most beautiful beaches on Maui is located just south of Wailea, Makena (Big Beach).Expansive turquoise waters and golden sand. A’ loca’l spot for boogie boarding and skim boarding. And if you do find yourself on that side of the island on a Sunday afternoon, check out the infamous drum circle on the nude beach next door at Little Beach. I admit I haven’t been in awhile but as far as being on the “must do at least once list” , this one’s a keeper.
The West coast, Lahaina, Kaanapali up to Honolua Bay is also a beautiful drive. Especially during whale season. The drive along the coast as you pass by Maalaea, reminds me a little of highway 1 in California..There is a spot to pull over designated as a ‘whale watching’ area …The humpbacks love to hang out around this location. If you time it at Sunset…. prepare for one of those rare ” OMG” moments…you may even see a whale breach..Breathtaking..or’ giving’ depending on how you look at it:)
Lahaina is a quaint historical town with lot’s of shops and art galleries. Kaanapali is a little further north of Lahaina and is a stretch of luxury hotels on another “one” of Maui’s famous beaches. Oh and by the way, did you know that during whale season if you go under the water while swimming in the ocean you will hear some of the most healing/spiritual sounds of your life?? I’ve found Ka’anapali a really good place to soak in the “loving” frequencies of the Humpback whales. Did I mention that I am in love with whales?
If you continue north past Kaanapali you will pass Napili and arrive at Honolua Bay. Well known for it’s snorkeling in summer and surfing during the winter months. If your feeling very adventurous you can continue around the north west side on the way back to …wherever you came from. This area is still very rustic and rugged and magical…reminds me of Kauai. Which is a good thing!
Believe it or not, this is just a ‘scratch’ on the proverbial surface….Depending on your mood..your interests…Maui pretty much has it all! But truly, you don’t want to just take my word for it. Come to my island..E Komo Mai…and see, do and experience for yourself:)
Here are a few websites I’ve found helpful:
www.mauiinfosource.com (they have good contacts for taxi co.’s.) For those of you inquiring about that. I called a few and the average fare from the airport to the Retreat Center at $35-$65. When you inquire for rates you can give them the name and address of retreat center;
Hale Ho’omana
1550 Pi’iholo Road
Makawao, HI 96768
If you are participating in the retreat, renting a car isn’t necessary during the week. Just need cab fare to and from airport . The rental car agencies are at the airport also, if you decide to rent a car before or after the retreat.
The main airline’s that have direct flights to Maui are American, United and Delta. I fly American by way of Dallas or Lax. Oh and Hawaiian from California and Las Vegas. Really easy and April is a good month for less expensive fares.
OGG is the airport you will be flying to. Doesn’t that sound exciting?!
Cleanse, Purify and Renew in Maui

At this point, I’d like to share a little more of my island experience along with how the “Aloha” retreat is designed to help you Feng Shui your Heart.
My first year and a half on Maui I lived on the North Shore. Known for it’s tropical jungle feel. Gorgeous waterfalls and freshwater pools, bamboo forests…and the infamous “Jaws” surf break. I lived off the grid ..outside shower and toilet…in a teepee for a while too. I was totally becoming one with the ‘aina’ and the elements. Now, I hear your sarcastic thought ‘tough life’, right? But actually it was kind of an ‘initiation’ of sorts. Trust me. I don’t need to get into all the details now, however I’ve been known on occasion,to tell a good ‘long’ story if you ask…the kind that would cause my kids to run for cover. You see, I’ve done all the hard work…so I can come out on the other side..to lead you all in a much more efficient process.:)
The first part of our “process” in our retreat is letting go. Surrender, Forgiveness, all big words but necessary to opening our HEARTS. “Our ability and willingness to forgive, to begin anew and to see the light before us” Kumu Kawaikapuokalani Hewitt. The ancient spirituality of Hawaii..Huna is based on this. ALOHA…”The concept of Aloha is being in the presence of your higher spirit (HEART). Being in this vibration will lead to the authentic truth within yourself” Ho’o'ponopono is a sacred ritual of Huna spirituality of which we will perform at the beginning of our week. At this point, Group Breath led by Sula will support us in our “releasing” of all that we are ready to let go of. On our third day we will do a “Sacred Site” tour. Cleansing and purifying in the waters of the Pacific ocean and the powerful Iao Valley stream. After we cleanse we will journey to a Heiau, a sacred site of Hawaiian ceremony and prayer where we will offer up our gratitude and prayers. Personally, I have had the opportunity to do this exact journey and it has been invaluable to me in my growth and expansion. I look forward to sharing it with you.
The second half of our week will begin with a journey to the top of Haleakala Crater to view the sunrise. Many people have said that it is quite a “spiritual” experience. We will continue with more Hawaiian immersion with a ‘talk story’ with Jeana Nalui. Jeana and her husband are the owners of Hale Ho’omana retreat center where we are blessed enough to hold our retreat. She is a beautiful, shining light who will share her knowledge and wisdom of Hawaii. I am also thrilled to say we will be experiencing an ‘authentic’ Lua with a traditional Halau (hula dance) to top off our Hawaiian experience.
Also as part of our celebration we will be using our voices and sound healing with a kirtan and moving our bodies in celebration with an esctatic dance and movement class.
Last but not least, through out our “Feng Shui of our Heart” process…..we will be learning Basic Feng Shui knowledge, have a personal consultation on your floor plan with me, and create a secret ‘cure’ to take home and anchor this new and amazing energy into your own home. Wheeew! So I’d say it’s safe to say that our intention is that this retreat is a “Sacred journey into your ‘self’ and your ‘space’ to acknowledge, purify and expand. Create room for transformation and the manifestation of your heart’s desires.
There will also be daily quiet time to reflect and integrate your experience. The ‘aina’ of Hale Ho’omana is a beautiful container to hold space for our experience. The opportunity to have a Lomi Lomi for yourself or any of the other spa services provided by the retreat are available for you to schedule on your personal time.

February 5, 2010For someone who had never even been to California, to be skipping over it seemed somehow…not right…but flying straight out over the Pacific my heart started to expand and open and Breathe..for what felt like the first time. Thankfully it was still daylight as we approached the islands… I would encourage anyone not to miss seeing the mystical beauty from the air upon first arriving. After what seems like endless ocean, to see the peaks of the majestic, magical energy coming into view…well if that doesn’t stir your soul I’m not sure what will. For me, I could feel the energy of those mountain peaks miles before we were upon them. As they first appeared in my vision..it was like someone had flipped a switch somewhere deep inside and I began to cry…like sobbing cry….now I can’t say that would happen to everyone…but it sure was a ‘sign’ for me. My soul spoke ” I am HOME” for the first time..at least in this body.
My first time in the islands was life changing, life altering, life transforming….Yes, I ended up moving there a year later. Now of course, I can’t promise that everyone who goes to Hawaii will feel the same way. Obviously not everyone will choose to move there. But, I can tell you this. If you are desiring a Life Change or Transformation there is a pretty good chance that with ‘right’ intent and desire…this ‘aina’ this land will support, encourage and offer up a huge invitation to do just that..with LOVE and ALOHA. It’s like the energy of the islands is holding a “come as you are ‘party’” with an RSVP “only those that are really ready to become who you are”. There’s a saying on the island….Mother Maui either ‘embraces’ you …or ‘spits you out’. I have been totally embraced…and again with true desire and intent for your highest good…Mother Maui can embrace you too.
Pamela’s Hawaii story
February 5, 2010ALOHA” isn’t just a word..a greeting..that you hear at the airport upon arriving in the Hawaiian islands. ALOHA is a presence an energy a vibration that opens the heart and says “HAAAAAA”. HA is the breath of life. We invite you to come to the magical isle of Maui and dare to open..dare to receive..your HeArt’s desires.
Aloha Friends & Ohana
I want to share a little bit of my story with you as I prepare to return to the place of my Heart…Maui, HI. I have been on an extended stay here on the mainland for the last 6 months after moving to Maui 4 years ago. I will be returning March 4th. I can only begin to try and share with you the joy that arises within me as I plan my journey home…to ground in and build up my MANA to share with all of you who decide to join us for the “Aloha” Feng Shui of the Heart retreat this April. My intention here is to inspire and encourage anyone who might also feel pulled to the Hawaiian islands as I once was, the call is real and I support you in following your heart.
About 7 years ago while I was living in S. Fla., I had a Feng Shui client/project that is now called The Maui Spa and Wellness center in Boca Raton, Fla. The founder had been a previous Feng Shui student of mine and asked me to consult on the project from the ground up working with architects and designers. The offer was a dream come true from a design point of view. To help design a building “correctly” in terms of chi flow and Feng Shui harmony from the beginning instead of trying to make corrections after the fact.. When the founder explained to me that the spa was to be a theme spa based on “Maui” and bringing the energy of the islands to S. FLa. I have to admit I wasn’t so sure. I hadn’t been west of the Mississippi River.. east coast girl all the way. But since most of my work is Intuitive I trusted I would be able to fulfill her needs.
Well a year or so into the project, she said to me one day.” You know what you would be really good at?” I said curiously,”what”? She said the words “Lomi Lomi” and I was a little confused not knowing what language she had spoken…but I got “goose bumps” (or ‘chicken skin’ in Hawaiian pidgen) all over my body which definitely got my attention. She said, “It’s a sacred form of Hawaiian massage, kind of what you do in peoples space but on the body”. To say that numerous light bulbs flashed in my mind at that moment, would be an understatement. My guidance had been nudging me along to do more hands on healing work..and I had my 1st degree Reiki at the time. Now of which I am 3rd level Reiki Master, so I began some research into this Lomi Lomi. At that point in time if someone would have told me…”You are going to move to Hawaii one day…” I would have thought they were crazy. Truly the farthest thing from my mind….obviously though, not my heart:)
About a year later..after some research and intuitive nudging..I took a “leap of faith” and flew to Hawaii to attend a Lomi Lomi retreat on the island of Maui. To say that’s the end of the story would be a ‘slight’ understatement. Little did I know at the time, it was just the “beginning”.
If you’ve made it to this point..Mahalo (thank you). This is a very special song that touched me on my first trip to Maui.

What is Ho O PonoPono? It is a Hawaiian prayer or cleansing tool taught by ancient Hawaiian Kahunas (master teachers). “The main purpose of this process is to discover the Divinity within oneself. The Ho’oponopono is a profound gift which allows one to develop a working relationship with the Divinity within and learn to ask in each moment that our errors in thought, word, deed or action be cleansed. Aloha Feng Shui of the Heart by pamela carmo

The intimate art of transforming your life through love and your surroundings
There is a dance of energies flowing through your environment that is an intimate reflection of you. Your personal space is a mirror of your subconscious fears, hopes, dreams and desires. Your “inner” self on all levels, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual is expressed through the objects in your home. Your home is the connecting point between heaven and earth and offers a unique opportunity for spiritual growth. Awareness of this connection between home and heart empowers you to begin to co-create your life and manifest your heart’s desires.
The first step to co-creating your heart’s desires, is to look around your personal space as if it was the first time you entered. What do the objects and placement say to you? Feel from your heart. Is there anything that doesn’t “feel” LOVE? If so you may want to consider letting it go. Ultimately, we want to surround ourselves with LOVE, the vibration of Love in all things.
It is also important to know that where you are in this present moment is okay. If you are looking around your space realizing that there isn’t a lot to LOVE, accept the present and bless it as an opportunity to change and potentially transform. LOVE yourself right now. Breathe deep, open your heart and open to LOVE. It is here with an open heart, connecting to source, where we tap into our own creative energy. Releasing thought from our mind and centering our hearts is a more soul connected place. Intuition is birth from here, trust grows from here.
Create sacred space by letting your soul guide you through the feelings in your heart. Make changes in your home and let it become a powerful affirmation of who you want to be. The power of intention with a pure heart can change anything.
